Benefits Periods

Benefit periods are the maximum length of time that disability income benefits will be paid to an insured individual should they experience a disability. The longer the benefit period, the higher the insurance premiums for disability coverage.  Disability insurance is offered with both short and long-term term benefit periods. Long-term benefit periods can in many cases provide coverage for between two and twenty years, depending on what is chosen and paid for. Certain terms, conditions and restrictions relate to reoccurring disabilities and it is important to fully understand the insurance contract.
