Accident and Sickness Insurance

Accident and Sickness Insurance is available as a stand-alone insurance product, and is also available as a rider which is added to a different form of insurance.

Accident and sickness insurance provides coverage in many cases without any waiting periods. The benefits under a claim are paid to the individual or any other person chosen and in most cases are in additional to other types of insurance coverage an individual may have.

Accident and sickness insurance provides coverage as a result of an accident, and in some cases sicknesses if selected on the policy. Higher premiums would be associated with policies that cover both accident and sickness, in comparison to accident as a stand-alone.

This type of coverage can provide payments and coverage for things such as hospital confinement, outpatient surgery recovery, intensive care costs and other related costs.

There are different types of accident and sickness insurance including:

  • Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D)
  • Dental Plans
  • Extended Health Care
  • Prescription Drugs
  • Travel Assistance

Coverage is in many cases limited, and in most cases, injuries as a result of self-infliction are excluded. Expenses as a result of criminal activity are also excluded.

Individuals should consult with experienced and licensed accident and sickness insurance agents for information. Every individual and family has unique circumstances and proper planning is imperative.
